It’s the Thursday night before Lisa’s surgery (a lumpectomy of the right breast and lymph node dissection to remove tumors). Mom, Dad, Nat and me (Kelly – Lisa’s sister) are hanging out together. We indulged in and thoroughly enjoyed Fuzzy’s pizza for dinner; it was a beautiful evening so we ate outside – which is a rarity and delight given Houston’s humidity and often oppressive heat. Since being home, the phone has been ringing on and off with well-wishes to Lisa for tomorrow’s surgery. Franki (one of Lisa’s noisiest cats) sits by my side seemingly sensing something is about to happen – for once he is quiet! The plan for tomorrow, Friday, April 6, is that Lisa and Nat will head down to M.D. Anderson’s Mays Clinic for 6:00 a.m. check-in. Because Nat is the only one who can sit with Lisa prior to surgery, Mom, Dad and I will wait for a call from Nat letting us know that Lisa has gone into surgery. Once that happens, we will join Nat in the hospital’s waiting room where we’ll be updated with Lisa’s progress and then see her once she’s in her room after surgery. Thank you to all of you for your support and concern. We’ll be sure to keep you posted through this blog as Lisa moves through this new (and unexpected) chapter of her life. If all goes as planned, Lisa should return home from the hospital Saturday morning after surgery.

Greetings from Nekoosa Hi Lisa and all. Thanks for this website so everyone back ‘home’ can stay informed on the progress in Texas. And, progress is just what I’m praying for! Hugs, D.
memories OK, since you are in the hospital you won’t be eating any good food, so I thought I would share some food memories from Minneapolis. The problem, however, is it seems to me we only ate three things the whole time we lived there together and our beverages consisted of two choices. Hmmmmm, no wonder we walked so much. Remember walking to the cinnamon roll place? Their cinnamon rolls were as big as my head and you and I both had one to ourselves!!! yum yum. For lunch? Seems to me we ate licorice. Dinner? Yep, Cobb salad at that weird sports bar…you’ll remember the name. Beverages? Breakfast: one whole pot of coffee each. Lunch: (Hey, now that I think about it, at lunch we drank water. How healthy of us). Dinner: beer. After dinner: beer. We should have been poster girls for healthy living! I’m thinking about you. I’m sure all is well. My love to you, C.
Best wishes Lisa and Nat – Just wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you. You’re in my thoughts every day. Here’s to a speedy recovery!! Together you guys can beat anything… Love you guys, talk to you soon. Gary
