It is a bit after 5:00 p.m. and Lisa has been sleeping on and off since she woke up in the recovery room. She was happy to have ice chips and morphine available to quench her thirst and relieve her pain. She is currently enjoying a delicious berry smoothie, brought to her by Kelly (me), for dinner which she is consuming with great gusto! Her wonderful doctor, Dr. Funda Meric-Bernstam, stopped by with an update on the surgery. She was able to cleanly remove the breast tumor; meaning there was no cancer in the margins (tissue beyond the border of the tumor). The lymph node dissection also went well. Of the 24 lymph nodes removed several were identified as suspicious. Whether or not these are cancerous will be determined by pathology. These results will not be available until late next week or early the week after. Although she is in bed and sleeps a lot, Lisa has enjoyed reading all the notes posted by those of you following her on CarePages when she is awake. Lisa plans for a 7:30 a.m. check-out time tomorrow morning.

We were delighted to read the update and to hear that Kelly is taking such good care of you. Continued prayers for you and Nat, Mom and Dad and Kelly too! Love you, A.P.
I’m having mood swings just for you!!! Hi Lisa! My friend has cancer, so I’m having mood swings just for her! I have a million stories that I could post on here. Let’s see…I’ll go with the “My Dear Friend is Gifted in Organization” story! How about the time you came over to help me organize my closets, bedrooms and every corner of my house. I was dreading it and you were so excited! Being the cat lover that you are, you noticed that something was wrong with Chap. I dashed him up to the vet and you stayed behind to organize. I’m gone less than an hour and you have organized my entire linen closet…in less than 1 hour! I’m totally stunned! It would have taken me a whole week to do what you did in one hour. (Mainly because I would have stopped and looked at every item and remembered a story that went with it!) Here are my 10 favorite things about you: 1. You are comfortable in your own skin 2. You don’t get flustered with the little things in life 3. You have a teachable spirit 4. You give great hugs 5. You value friends and family 6. You have a warm, compassionate heart 7. You have an incredible laugh 8. You are a great problem solver 9. You love dirt!!! (inside joke) 10. You are going to beat breast cancer!!!!!!!! M.
In my thoughts! Lisa, I have thought of you several times today and sent prayers up for you and your Drs. I am so glad to hear that things went well today. What a great way to keep your supporters up to date (Carepages). Be a good patient!
LoTi 4 I have thought about you several times today. I am so glad to hear things went well. Take care of yourself and get lots of rest. This definitely required some higher-level thinking so I am betting on a LoTi 4. I let you know when I get it entered into HEAT. Keep smiling…my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
You are in our prayers Lisa Spoke with Nat earlier today & got the update. J. and I wish you well, and you are in our prayers. D. & J
